This is the bulk of what's on the stick following creation. The system
is assembled using a combination of loop mounts of these files, and
overlayfs.
One more limitation, kernel updates install successfully without
breaking anything, but they don't boot. The vmlinuz and initramfs
files are in the overlay, and the overlay isn't available to the
bootloader, nor is the bootloader config updated. Same issue whether
dm or overlayfs based overlay.
