Hello Philipp,
perhaps sieveshell does not like STARTTLS-only connections.
Issue #530 "sieveshell wants STARTTLS support"
https://github.com/cyrusimap/cyrus-imapd/issues/530
I don't understand. This worked for 15 years... why is it an issue now?
It worked until it didn't. I've not made any changes locally.
Some time in the past (2.4 or 2.5) the default value for the
ipamd.conf allowplaintext Option changed.
allowplaintext: 0
If enabled, allows the use of cleartext passwords on the wire.
By default, the use of cleartext passwords requires a TLS/SSL
encryption layer to be negotiated prior
to any cleartext authentication mechanisms being advertised or
allowed. To require a TLS/SSL encryp‐
tion layer to be negotiated prior to ANY authentication, see the
tls_required option.
You can use <servicename>_allowplaintext: 1 to allow plaintext for
that service only
