Sam Ruby commented on WHIMSY-15:
--------------------------------

bq. However these are both currently manually updated, and are not the official
source.

I guess my point is that you manually updated committee-info.txt in ways that
increased the amount to which it is out of sync with the information on
http://apache.org/. I would rather you not do that. I have tools that
"connect the dots" and you are breaking links.

bq. Ideally they should be auto-generated from committee-info.json. Failing
that, there should be a job to compare the files and report discrepancies, e.g.
to site-dev, so the file(s) can be corrected.

I've added site and description to
[committee-info.json|https://whimsy.apache.org/public/committee-info.json].
This information is extracted from
[index.html|https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/infrastructure/site/trunk/templates/index.html].

[committee.rb|https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/infrastructure/trunk/projects/whimsy/lib/whimsy/asf/committee.rb]
contains a list of known aliases, and this information is used to help match
up the name on the web site with the name in committee-info.txt.

> Since two PMCs were named, the pages for the minutes for APR and Logging
> Services are no longer easily derivable.
> Ideally apps such as projects.a.o should be able to determine the URL without
> needing to do any special processing.
> Logging.tml could easily be renamed and/or aliased to Logging_Services.html.
> Not sure it's possible (or a good idea) to include (APR) in the Portable
> Runtime URL. So that may need additional processing.
> Or one could use the committee id such as apr/logging/httpd.
> If so, it might make sense to provide redirects for the current pages.
> For the time being, I have added a special check for APR/Logging.
