Sounds sensible to me. Nothing stopping you rolling a tc-native release yourself if you wish. More than one person rolling a release often has the benefit of ironing out any wrinkles in the process, improving the release docs etc. (I'm waiting to see where I trip up with the 6.0.x release.) (for the wider audience not so familiar with how the ASF works) Some of the rules related to who can release what and when - - any committer can tag and propose a release whenever they like - - a release vote needs at least 3 binding (i.e. from PMC members) +1 votes, and more binding +1 votes than binding -1 votes to pass The rules are written this way to ensure that releases can't be blocked unless that is a majority decision of the community.
