Thanks for the correction and for the pointers — you're right, I had the
process backwards. I've read through the "Become a committer" section
and the links you shared, and I understand now that the ICLA comes
later, after sustained contribution, not at the start.
So I've started where you suggested. I picked up Bug 59569
(isWrapperFor/unwrap implementations incorrect in jdbc-pool) from
bz.apache.org, posted a plan on the bug following the discussion in the
comments, and submitted a PR against main:
https://github.com/apache/tomcat/pull/1077
I'll keep working through other issues in the tracker (including the
Beginner-labeled ones) and get involved on the dev mailing list. If you
have any feedback on the PR, I'd appreciate it.
