CVE-2025-48976 Apache Tomcat - DoS in Commons FileUpload
Severity: Important
Vendor: The Apache Software Foundation
Versions Affected:
Apache Tomcat 11.0.0-M1 to 11.0.7
Apache Tomcat 10.1.0-M1 to 10.1.41
Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.105
Description:
Apache Commons FileUpload provided a hard-coded limit of 10kB for the
size of the headers associated with a multipart request. A specially
crafted request that used a large number of parts with large headers
could trigger excessive memory usage leading to a DoS. This limit is now
configurable (maxPartHeaderSize on the Connector) with a default of 512
bytes.
Mitigation:
Users of the affected versions should apply one of the following
mitigations:
- Upgrade to Apache Tomcat 11.0.8 or later
- Upgrade to Apache Tomcat 10.1.42 or later
- Upgrade to Apache Tomcat 9.0.106 or later
