There is no guarantee that previously generated code remains compatible with
new Jasper runtime, this is untested and will remain that way. Also any fixes
or optimizations occur in the generated code. Upgrading Jasper should mean
regenerating the JSP code.
However, I added back the method as deprecated in 10.1.32 and 9.0.97.
