I wasn't clear enough. In fact the error page is an HTML file in the WAR. The
location element in the deployment descriptor is a WAR path which points to it.
As a consequence, the error page is nor a servlet and neither a JSP page, which
is the condition to apply SRV.9.9.1. The fact that there also happens to be
another servlet with a mapping pattern that matches the path of the error page
doesn't change this, but this distinction wasn't clear in my original post.
