I do not understand this, really. A viable patch. OpenSSL 3.0.x is not a hard
requirement, so there is no need to remove the patch. If 1.2.x and 2.0.x would
fail configuration with OpenSSL < 3 I would understand that, but they don't.
Recommended != required. There is no need to make life harder than it is.
