Websocket client library in Apache Tomcat 9.x or all releases is supporting
only HTTP proxy server.
WsWebSocketContainer.java has following check:
Proxy selectedProxy = null;
for (Proxy proxy : proxies) {
if (proxy.type().equals(Proxy.Type.HTTP)) {
sa = proxy.address();
if (sa instanceof InetSocketAddress) {
InetSocketAddress inet = (InetSocketAddress) sa;
if (inet.isUnresolved()) {
sa = new InetSocketAddress(inet.getHostName(),
inet.getPort());
}
}
selectedProxy = proxy;
break;
}
}
This request is to enhance the clientlibrary to support HTTPS proxy servers.
