I haven't been able to build Tomcat 6 with JDK 1.6 either. Since building with

I've install JDK 1.5. The problem is the same.
Can it be related to installed GCJ on this computer or ant which was
built with GCJ, I've export right JAVA_HOME, but nevertheless.. ?
It works for me. Given the error message, there seems to be a problem
with the compiler (you can easily verify the imports exist in the source
tree).
It also compiles for anyone on Gentoo. We still have 6.0.9_beta in tree.
No bugs have been filed about it failing to compile for people on
Gentoo. I would assume that's a local issue. Nothing wrong with the
sources and ability to compile them.
Use the Sun or the IBM JDK, the Gnu Java is most likely not up to par.
