Like said, this is configuration problem. It can be easily resolved with a simple thing like: /myapp/*=worker !/myapp/*.gif=worker !/myapp/*.jpg=worker !/myapp/*.pdf=worker Note that exclamation mark in front will unmap the specific content so in the above example, no .gif, .jpg or .pdf extensions will be handled by the Tomcat, but rather leaved to the IIS. Since the default document for any web application is determined by the content of the web.xml by the servlet spec itself, the patch that would change that will never be commited!
