most folks I know are still using 5.0 (and 4.1), both have been stable much longer than 5.5, most companies think better safe than sorry, no need to be bleeding edge at all times

historically, the companies I have worked with have not picked up tomcat on a pre .16 release, that has seemed to be the magic number

Hola,
Do we have anyone from IBM here who can tell us what's stopping them
from using Tomcat 5.5, as opposed to 5.0, for new tools like their Web
Ontology Manager that was announced earlier today?

You can clearly see they're up to date on details, like the site name
having changed from jakarta.apache.org/tomcat to tomcat.apache.org, by
looking at their installation instructions... Weird.
