I think it's something along the lines of "I'm not sure about a choice that I've made and I need to belittle anyone with a different opinion so that I don't have to face the existential risk of contemplating whether mine is right or wrong, or worst of all discover that this triviality by which I've defined my identity just doesn't matter".
