When I try to build it (plan9port) on FreeBSD 8.0-RC1 then I get error saying that it is broken and works on i386 only... so probably it's just something wrong with fbsd port and not p9p in general.

The FreeBSD port needs to be updated. Just grab the hg version from plan9.us, put it in /usr/local/plan9, and run ./INSTALL. It doesn't touch any files outside of that directory, so there's really not much point in using the port.
