bin/pig does not work with bash 3.0

With bash 3.0, bin/pig fails with the error -
./pig: line 52: syntax error near unexpected token `"$f"'
./pig: line 52: ` remaining+=("$f")'
This is because the += syntax was added in bash 3.1 .
RHEL 4 machines come with bash 3.0 .
