After many years with only occasional updates to the phpBB: https://forum.openoffice.org in the last week I’ve been able to fully script all the parts of the update to phpBB 3.3.19. We are ready to act on each patch release.
These updates were painful because over time they were increasingly manual since we have some complex patching we do to give it our branding and look and feel. Minor version updates were hard such as 3.0.9 to 3.3.7 With the latest update I was very careful to build and script each step. The forums are now updated. I’m now polishing https://github.com/apache/openoffice-forums so each version's customized phpBB installation can built locally. There are just a few more steps to make the installation of a new release include an unattended update on the server. I need to review with Infrastructure the backup policies, but I think we are nearly in proper operational shape.
