There have been several improvements in the last couple weeks. In short:
1) The Wiki has been fully upgraded to Mediawiki 1.23.x; this version is
supported until 2017; the server software has been updated too, and
obsolete logs removed to restore a sane amount of free disk space.
Documentation about the wiki (only available to infrastructure members)
has been rewritten. Thanks to user MLT for advice.
2) The Forum was refreshed by addressing several requests that had
accumulated over the last months. For example, the current homepage is a
bit less ugly than the old one, and other images/icons have been
refreshed, as a result of old forum discussions. Server software has
been updated here too, and routinely maintenance has been done. Thanks
to the forum admins for their patience and for recollecting things that
had to be done.
One of the "RISKS?" that Dennis had identified is thus addressed.
Of course, a lot of nice things can still be done, and of course any
LAMP-capable administrators are welcome to join. Documentation was
already quite good and I've further improved it, so maintenance is now
something that can be done routinely (but not, at least if I am to do
it, in a scheduled way with proper notice: I can't commit to scheduling
maintenance windows in advance, I can just take a look on a regular
basis and act when needed).
Regards,
Andrea.
