Please see the closed JIRA issue [1] and my mail in [2] where I suggested to reopen it when we have consensus on "[...] whether we want to have a read-only git-mirror of our svn repository or to whether we want to fully switch to git (read-write)."

I'm for a read-only git-mirror for a start.
