Why doesn't the jsp:include work? Is it simply forgetting that facets
have to be a single component?

Does this work:

<h:panelGrid><f:facet name="header><h:panelGroup><jsp:include
page="/someotherjsp.jsp"/><h:panelGroup></f:facet></h:panelGrid>
