Right, managed to trace this all the way back. The problem is with the
specfile. But it's only triggered if install-info is in your path. On
Fedora11, etc/profile adds the /sbin and /usr/sbin path to the end of
your PATH variable. And install-info is in /sbin. This triggers the
Makefile to call it which creates the /usr/share/info/dir file in the
BUILDROOT
Sigh

Right, I've narrowed this down to the install call on the
accounting.info file.
What seems to be happening is that on moblin, install just copies
the file to the destination setting ownership/permissions etc as
expected.
On Fedora11, install seems to be calling install-info, which is
making the /usr/share/info/dir file.
test -z "/usr/share/info" || mkdir -p -- "/home/glen/rpmbuild/
BUILDROOT/acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.i386/usr/share/info"
/usr/bin/install -c -m 644 './accounting.info' '/home/glen/rpmbuild/
BUILDROOT/acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.i386/usr/share/info/
accounting.info'
install-info --info-dir='/home/glen/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/
acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.i386/usr/share/info' '/home/glen/rpmbuild/
BUILDROOT/acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.i386/usr/share/info/
accounting.info'
install-info: warning: no info dir entry in `/home/glen/rpmbuild/
BUILDROOT/acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.i386/usr/share/info/
accounting.info'
Anyone any suggestions ? I don't want to go down the route of
editing the .spec files.

Thanks Jing,
I assume you're building the rpm on Moblin itself. If that's the case
then there's something I possibly missing in my setup, I was building
Fedora11 workstation.
Hence my question about some rpm macro foo. I'll have to investigate
further.
Cheers,

I tried the latest acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.src.rpm on moblin repo.
Sounds it works for me to build. Below are my steps,
1. wget acct src rpm
2. rpm -ivh acct-6.4pre1-2.6.moblin2.src.rpm
3. cd /root/rpmbuild/SPEC
4. rpmbuild -bb acct.spec

Subject: [Moblin Dev] Compiling the source rpms
Hey Guys,
noticed that the acct-6.4 source rpm released under the Beta doesn't
fully built. I'm getting an installed but unpackaged error for /usr/
share/info/dir.
Is this a known issue or are errors like that avoided with some rpm
macro foo ?
Cheers,
