Most of the issues in 2.0.11 were already in 2.1.0, so releasing this was simply to get them out there for those that haven't upgraded. 2.1.0 had a couple of problems such that we don't recommend it, and in the process of fixing them the JDK requirement went up and we incremented the version to 2.2. There haven't been any volunteers to push fixes from 2.2 back into 2.1, so we left the recommended JDK 1.4 branch at 2.0.x. However, it's important to be clear that you can use 2.2 to target JDK 1.4. IMO, we can't really maintain any more than 2 concurrent trees (2.2.x and trunk) going forward, and down the track just having 1 would be preferable.
