Hi,

I think the main Proximity developer is here, and I was wondering if you would like to work with us on Maven Enterprise (ME)? Essentially this means us putting a small wrapper around Proximity and firing it up from the ME server? I'm not sure what the licensing is on Proximity but if it's a license compatible with the ASF then we could package up Proximity with ME which I think would be very cool. I've heard good things about Proximity, and only tried it out for a week but I think you guys have done the leg work and have something that works well and we should support you instead of our meagre efforts in this area. You have made something that works and people like and I think it would be wise to incorporate it into ME if you're interested. We should be encouraging people making good Maven-based applications and I think Proximity is a perfect example.

This doesn't mean moving your project anywhere, really just redistributing a binary of Proximity with some integration pieces. I am using an extended version of ME for a client which wraps a Spring application so I don't think wrapping Proximity would be any different. I honestly have a couple clients who want proxy support and they have already started looking at Proximity because maven- proxy is not supported and Archiva didn't really work. I also have some training in the near future and at ApacheCon and I'm going to be using ME or an open variant of it and so I would like to include Proximity because that's what I would like to promote in the training. I can go ahead and just make a bundle that includes Proximity for training but some official collaboration would be preferable and I think that's ultimately more beneficial to Maven users who want enterprise grade proxy support.

Any of the Proximity developers care to comment?

Thanks,

Jason.
