The only better 'integration' is that you can use your gihub account and so
every contributor can log in.

Asf slack is only for committers, it is not even possible to chat with
people that are trying to get in touch with the community

In Bookkeeper and Pulsar the PMC setup a dedicated slack account.
In Zookeeper we started with asf slack but most of the active contributors
are not committers so we switched to gitter.im
