Title: Standardized Audit Logging with Log4j Audit
Category: General
Abstract:

Keeping an audit trail of any system is a fundamental concern of
systems building that is oftentimes skipped over or neglected, just
like any other security-focused feature. Apache Log4j released a
standardized audit logging library based on Log4j 2 back in 2018. This
comes with an audit catalog editor which itself maintains an audit
trail, audit log code generation, and the endless possibilities that
Log4j offers in its plugin ecosystem. This talk introduces the
library, an overview of audit logging, and explores the possibilities
of using audit trails besides making your legal department happy. As a
bonus, find out about some of the more obscure Log4j features that
make all this possible.
