Hi everyone, By default Apache committers do not have permissions to do modifications to the SVN release area [1]. This means that many steps in the release process cannot be completed by a Hive committer without the intervention of a PMC.
In Hive, it is quite common to have committers serve as release managers so these limitations add unnecessary overhead and complications to the release process. I would like to propose to lift these limitations and give write access to Hive committers in the dist area. It is rather easy to do by raising an INFRA ticket. Obviously, I am +1 with the change.
