I reviewed Apache Geode 1.15.5.RC1 as a patch release candidate. One note: the advertised release-notes URL, https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/GEODE/Release+Notes#ReleaseNotes-1.15.5, does not currently show a 1.15.5 section for me. The page I see has 1.15.4 and 1.15.3, but not 1.15.5. Checks performed: - Downloaded the source and binary artifacts from https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/geode/1.15.5.RC1/ - Verified SHA-256 checksums for: - apache-geode-1.15.5-src.tgz - apache-geode-1.15.5.tgz - apache-geode-examples-1.15.5-src.tgz - apache-geode-native-1.15.5-src.tgz - apache-geode-benchmarks-1.15.5-src.tgz - Imported the Geode KEYS file into an isolated GPG keyring and verified detached signatures for all downloaded artifacts. The signatures were good signatures by Jinwoo Hwang <[email protected]>, key fingerprint 5C3D A8FB B105 2F4D F1DE B1EF 62F7 DA41 B7D8 F26C. Trust was not established in my isolated keyring. - Confirmed the main source artifact .buildinfo matches the vote tag: - Source-Revision: 6bf8c5f714cf965ef8995ea6a52979b3de3223a0 - Source-Repository: support/1.15 - Source-Date: 2026-09-04 14:04:18 -0400 - Confirmed Git tag rel/v1.15.5.RC1 resolves to commit 6bf8c5f714cf965ef8995ea6a52979b3de3223a0. - Checked the release tag's CI configuration for Java version. The tag does not include GitHub Actions workflow files; the release branch's Concourse variables use openjdk8 for the build and list test versions openjdk8, openjdk11, and openjdk17. I used Java 8 for the build and runtime checks. - Ran a binary smoke test with the staged binary distribution and Java 8: - gfsh version --full reported Product-Version 1.15.5 and Source-Revision 6bf8c5f714cf965ef8995ea6a52979b3de3223a0. - Started a locator and server, created a REPLICATE region, put key 1 value "one", got the value back, destroyed the region, and stopped the server and locator successfully. - Ran geode-examples using the requested staged URLs and Java 8: - ./gradlew -PgeodeReleaseUrl= https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/geode/1.15.5.RC1 -PgeodeRepositoryUrl= https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachegeode-1155 build runAll - Result: BUILD SUCCESSFUL in 34m 26s, 267 actionable tasks executed. - Checked representative Maven staging artifacts from https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachegeode-1155: - org/apache/geode/geode-core/1.15.5/geode-core-1.15.5.pom - org/apache/geode/geode-core/1.15.5/geode-core-1.15.5.jar - Verified their detached signatures with the same key. - Confirmed their SHA-1 sidecar values matched the downloaded files. - Confirmed the POM uses groupId org.apache.geode, artifactId geode-core, version 1.15.5. - Confirmed the source archives do not contain compiled .class, .jar, .war, .so, .dll, .dylib, or .exe payloads. - Confirmed the extracted source, binary, examples, native, and benchmarks archives have top-level LICENSE and NOTICE files.
