Just adding another spin to this discussion... Today the idea of "application" inside a Geode cluster is really hard to define, there is no real concept of multitenancy and that also makes the problem of deployed jar isolation harder.
How would you define the hierarchy of a deployed jar from App 1 vs App 2 ? There is no concept of application, the main constructs are clients, servers, regions, functions, callbacks. In the current architecture I believe such isolation could happen with "user space" - Where users are considered for isolation (userA can't see jars deployed by userB unless specified so) creating then some sense of hierarchy. But I'm not really sold on this idea as well because it mixes two different concepts, so just thinking out loud. But going back to my main observation, we could try to answer how multinenancy could be implemented in Geode and use that to solve other problems like classloader hierarchy. +1 for options #1 for now as well.
