It would be good when sending the official announcement tomorrow to title it "code freeze and testing period for 2.1.7" and clearly indicate that it's not a "hold your breath and wait a week" period, but a testing period where everybody is invited to shake the beast so that all bugs fall down.
Also, cc'ing the users list may bring more testers.
