Can you confirm that there's some garbage when viewing the file page2wordml.xsl in viewcvs with mozilla?
http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/cocoon-2.1/src/webapp/samples/hello-world/style/xsl/page2wordml.xsl?rev=1.1&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup
IE seems to do better, but there's some garbage bevore <?xml ...?> too.
Perhaps it's related to the encoding I used (ISO-8859-1)? What do you think?

I just fixed it, re-sync to CVS and see if it works.
