If a bug fix seems to make sense than a quick vote should be started on the list to see if it's ok to apply the changes. By "quick vote" I think (also we didn't discuss this) if you find one other committer saying "+1" for the changes, it's ok to apply them. So, here's my +1. Go ahead and change it please.
