Hi all, I’d like to start a discussion regarding the compatibility between Apache Cloudberry and Greenplum 7.
It has come to my attention that some members of the Cloudberry community — including vendors, users, and contributors — may have communicated that Cloudberry is fully compatible with Greenplum (7). However, I believe this is not entirely accurate. While Cloudberry shares much of its foundation with Greenplum, there are important differences that could impact behavior or compatibility in certain scenarios. This mismatch in expectations could potentially lead to confusion or user frustration during migrations or deployments. To ensure transparency and better manage expectations, I propose we clearly outline the key differences between Cloudberry and Greenplum (7). Although we already have some documentation in place, I believe it’s time to revisit and update it with more precise and up-to-date information. Looking forward to your thoughts and input.
