Hi everyone, I wanted to share on the dev list some of the things that have been happening recently and also how it effects some of the recently raised Jiras. I have been working on Jira 1410 to implement a new Glossary design. To scope this work, I have split out relationships (Jira 1690) and classifications (Jira 1693). We need to do 1690 to introduce bidirectional and many to many relationships into the type system before the glossary work. We may need to do Jira 1692 as well prior to 1410. The idea is a to enhance the Atlas base capabilities so that the Glossary Jira 1410 just contains Glossary specific code and uses standard Atlas services. IBM,ING and other companies are working together on a proof point for Atlas called the Virtual Data Connector. We intend to work in the open with the community to enhance the Atlas capabilities. Some of the work items required for this have been raised as Jiras- the top Jira is Jira1689. Jiras with label VirtualDataConnector are part of this effort. The enhanced Glossary is part of this. We are keen to work with the PMC and the community to ensure we honour the Apache way. We are interested in any feedback, whether you would like to be involved in the VirtualDataConnector effort, and any concerns around this from the PMC or the community, many thanks , David.
