Hi. My name is Pontus Ericson and I'm a computer science student at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. I am currently doing my master thesis where I will explore the possibility of deploying DANE (DNS-based Authentication of Named Entities) to S/MIME. The goal is to move certification from CA's to validating certificates directly with the DNS. Thus I will modify (among other things) how certificates are validated and enrolled, thus I am looking for a mail client to use during this project.
Thunderbird is one of the mail clients I've looked at and I wonder if you might have any pointers, comments, recommendations or even questions regarding the project and Thunderbird / Mozilla NSS. If not this is mainly and informative mail about my current business with Thunderbird / Mozilla NSS and I will contact you later on if I decided on this mail client (which is very likely the case).
