Me too on both. MS Word or ODT files are a pain. I just want read the
stuff, not have to fire up NeoOffice and fight my way through the
million editing options.

Agreed! Wordprocessing formats in all their guises are for preparation
and editing, not for publication. The documents posted on the wiki are
published, there isn't a sense where I download the documents and then
patch them up a bit and send them back.
PDF seems to be a reasonably common form for publication. Perhaps add a
comment in the Checklist that PDF is preferred rather than word
processing formats (e.g., Word).
