The second part of 
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/JavaScript_crypto#Typical_use 
mentions the use of window.crypto.importUserCertificates(nickname, cert, 
forceBackup), which seems to me a cleaner approach for FF. Actually we 
intend to make use of it very soon, so I might tell you more about it 
soon ;-)

Anyway, I guess we are already off-topic, since this is not what he 
wants anyway...
