Hi Richard,

I´m glad to read you mail, it´s good to know that I´m not the only one stuck at this affair. I´m a newbie in Mozilla plugin development, that´s why I ask for how much effort could bring me to (learning to) develop a plugin to digitally sign from Firefox.

The responses I received didn´t give me very much information, I would like to know more about nsiCMSMessage:

1. ¿The signatures generated by this interface have any kind of extra attributes attached? (like the crypto.signtext() ones?)
2. This interface is accesible from JavaScript code.
3. ¿Could you give me any kind of reference manual, or any information about how this interface works?

Thanks in advance.

Hi ,

I noticed your email on the mozilla crypto list with subject:
"Need to develope a Firefox plugin to generate PKCS#7 detached signatures ?"

I wrote the Gmail S/mime firefox extension some time ago and I'm
investigating adding support for email signing (currently only
supports encryption/decryption). I'm wondering if you made any
progress (or got any interesting replies to your email). I'm looking
at the nsiCMSMessage and related interfaces but I'm not sure enough of
the API is exposed to XPCOM to be usable at the moment.

Regards,
Richard
