FYI, the Blink team is deep into a project ("slimming paint") that will fix
the bugs they inherited from Webkit that make layerized elements higher in
z-order than they should be. Gecko never had those bugs, of course. I'm not
sure of the state of IE, and I don't know of any plans to fix those bugs in
Webkit.It would be good to avoid those bugs in Servo sooner rather than later, since this is really an architectural issue that will get more expensive to fix over time.
