Hooray for a more vanilla Rust compiler config! Thank you! On Tue, May 3, 2016 at 2:10 AM, Gregory Szorc <g...@mozilla.com> wrote: > So where does that leave us on Universal OS X builds? As noted up-thread, the availability of the Widevine CDM (as of Firefox 47) provides a migration path for Silverlight-using sites. Supporting Firefox via Widevine should be particularly easy for sites that have already adopted Widevine in order to support Chrome after Chrome dropped Silverlight and have moved to unprefixed promise-based EME so as to keep working in Chrome 50. As a success anecdote, Bitmovin's player did the Right Thing by feature sniffing instead of browser sniffing, so their player Just Works without Firefox-specific changes. See http://www.dash-player.com/demo/drm-test-area/ for demo. (Services that use Widevine with WebM [Microsoft Azure is a known example] don't work yet. EME support for WebM support is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=webm-eme) I encourage people who have @mozilla.com Google Docs access to add the Silverlight-using movie streaming services that they are aware of in their country to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/156hS5R42R8evZlMKIwnliNWidJpqH2HDINvrjyqMVFE/edit so that migration off Silverlight can be tracked. There appear to be a couple of non-intranet non-video Silverlight-using sites in Japan. Obviously, Widevine doesn't address Java-esque use of Silverlight, but it's relatively rare outside intranets generally. -- Henri Sivonen hsivo...@hsivonen.fi https://hsivonen.fi/ _______________________________________________ dev-platform mailing list dev-platform@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-platform
