So there may be certain issues in S/MIME, but I don't believe that this qualifies for a flat statement that Thunderbird is potentially harmful. Nevertheless, I concur that working out an agreement on level of support would be helpful. The Thunderbird Council is working hard on this, as it would be of benefit for us too, but I don't think this should be a strict requirement for merging m-c and c-c. Finding a complete strategy for the future of Thunderbird takes time and a lot of communication with Mozilla and other interested parties, merging m-c and c-c now would be of immediate benefit for both sides. Before we continue to loop in Mitchell here I think we should come to an agreement on the technical side, there seem to be a few rough edges we should iron out first.
