One issue that, it isn't always clear to me who is the current sheriff on duty. It seems not all sheriffs remember to add that tag to their IRC name all the time. Also it isn't always easy to find out the one with that tag, especially when I'm using mobile app, and the sheriff is not currently talking with people. I suggest that you could add some mechanism to display the current sheriff on the tree herder or the tree status page, and probably provide a button to sheriffs so that when they take the duty, they just need to press the button, instead of adding tag to the ircname.
