Though it looks like it *can* do a bit more than simply launch the installer, judging by <https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/deployment_toolkit.xml>: it also allows pages to select from among the versions of Java available on the system. <https://www.java.com/js/deployJava.txt> may offer some insight into exactly what it can do.
