Hi.

<note> sorry, for the cross-post, please follow up on dev-geolocation</note>

Some of you might have noticed some upcoming patches for Firefox for Android
relating to a Mozilla-run geo-location service.

If you are interested in the backstory of this service or wonder what it is
about, come join us in our new mailing list at:

https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-geolocation

or read up on some more details at:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Services/Location

For immediate feedback, join us in IRC on the #geo channel, with a better
chance for responses during European work hours.

I'd expect the mailing list to have a technical focus. But it should also be a
place, where we can discuss the broader policy / legal aspects of it, to the
degree where these can be discussed in the open.

At this point the mailing list is primarily about the new Mozilla-hosted
geolocation project. But I'd be happy to see discussions from the existing
"Core :: Geolocation" bugzilla component on the same mailing list.

If you have expertise in this area or know someone who has, don't hesitate to
join or sent them our way.

Greetings from the Services EU team,
Hanno
