As we've seen, sites can be very specific in how they sniff the UA. While I 
can't say with certainty, differences in the UA between devices has the 
potential to break mobile Web sites/apps for specific devices.

Another consideration is that we really want our UA to be as stable as possible 
so that the introduction of new platform support (say, Windows phone) will not 
require a new evangelism effort.

(Yes, through our evangelism efforts we are promoting feature detection instead 
of UA sniffing but, as Jonas noted, many sites use UA sniffing and this is the 
low bar to cross for sites to support Firefox for Android and B2G.)
