Hi Fred, and thank you for your report. Indeed, what you describe is the current behavior of Software Center. Unfortunately, it is too late in the Precise cycle to make a change such as this, but I will set this as a wishlist item for feature planning and tracking, and this may be an item that we can discuss at UDS-Q.
Thank you again! ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971774 Title: Does not remember last used view Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In the View menu, there are 'All Software' and 'Canonical-Maintained Software'. I do not want proprietary software so I pick 'Canonical-Maintained Software'. Then I close Ubuntu Software Center. Next time I start Ubuntu Software Center, it has forgotten that I picked 'Canonical-Maintained Software' and now goes back to 'All Software' and now again shows me proprietary software! Get this proprietary software advertisements out of my face!
