1) Apport is a reporting tool, it collect info from the logs and some from
script like lspci, ... You still have these infos on your side.
2) Dupe is identified by its bug number(s) and you can checked then before
reporting as a dialog box is opened when several closed bug reports exist.

Title:
No Copy/Paste Functionality && No Bug Information

Status in “apport” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Two Complaints:

1.) When apport creates a summary, prior to sending the information,
there is no copy/paste functionality in the summary window. Please
remedy this. There are times when I would like to send information to
third parties, but the lack of copy/paste functionality can make the
  task tedious and onerous.

2.) When a bug has "already been reported", apport doesn't provide any
information as to the bug # or identity. This makes finding further
information about the bug (or even identifying which bug one is
experiencing) difficult, if not impossible, to ascertain by some
  users.
