The other default Ubuntu indicators use " Settings… ." instead of "Preferences" so this changes the keyboard indicator to match. Flipping the order of the items and adjusting their names matches the behavior in GNOME Shell & GNOME Classic's default notification area. (In fact I fixed that for GNOME Classic for Oneiric but realized too late that the indicator wouldn't automatically get the improved text.) GNOME actually uses ellipsis for the first item, but not the second one which I believe is the opposite of what we want in Ubuntu. Before: Keyboard Preferences Show Current Layout After: Show Keyboard Layout Keyboard Layout Settings… The keyboard layout indicator is hidden by default. To make it show: In System Settings, click Keyboard Layout. Click the + button to add a second layout. This does not affect the Ubuntu docs, but would break translation freeze.
