1. That knowledge base article specifically says that solution is for Thunderbird 2.0 2. Yes, that's how thunderbird works as documented there (alternatively, if you reread the KB article, there's another solution. 3. You're free to use whichever client you like, but we're not bringing back old features that upstream deprecated over 2 years ago. The KB article tells you how to fix your system both by changing the locale or changing it just for Thunderbird.
-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575116 Title: thunderbird does not run scripts in ~/.thunderbird/init.d/ Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: thunderbird As I see the /usr/bin/thunderbird startup script does nut run the scripts in ~/.thunderbird/init.d/S* like the previous versions did. In ubuntu 9.04, 9.10 there was a function in the /usr/bin/thunderbird script named moz_pis_startstop_scripts() for thunderbird 2. As I see this is missing in 10.04 for thunderbird 3. So the method for setting the date display format mentioned here is not working any more: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Date_display_format I expect that the scripts in ~/.thunderbird/init.d/ are working again.
