I found the problem to do with a previously stored key in known_hosts. On the command line you get a prompt and then an error, until you remove the offending line. On the GUI you get none of this just a failure.
As I was the reporter of the bug I've marked it invalid because I don't think it's to do with the upgrade. That said, it would still be nice if the gui version gave clearer error messages. ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883746 Title: cannot connect to ssh server Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Using the "Connect To Server" GUI I cannot connect to an ssh host, after a long while I get "Timed out while logging in" error. I can successfully ssh and scp at the command line, and have previously (in natty) successfully sftp'ed; so this I believe this to be a new problem in Oneiric.
