Recovery mode will cause some drivers to not be loaded. So that might explain the lack of brightness control.
Please try booting normally, expecting it to fail. Then reboot again into recovery and run: journalctl -b-1 > journal-1.txt journalctl -b-2 > journal-2.txt and attach the resulting text files here. ** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2115484 Title: am unable to adjust auto brightness Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: i upgraded from ubuntu 22LTS to 24 LTS now am not seeing brightness adjuster in GUI ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 Package: iio-sensor-proxy 3.5-1build2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.8.0-62.65-generic 6.8.12 Uname: Linux 6.8.0-62-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Jun 27 15:29:10 2025 InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-09-19 (1376 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20210819) SourcePackage: iio-sensor-proxy UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2115484/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
